Being decent at cooking is fun because it’s not hard to do better than most restaurants when cooking at home.
Restaurants run a business. That means in an effort to stay affordable they tend to minimize cost to maximize profit. Which often translates to substituting in faster methods and lower-cost ingredients where they can.
Once you’re above a certain skill threshold, just by using higher quality ingredients and spending more time you can often match or even exceed restaurant-quality dishes!
Anyway, sharing this because I just made the best Mac and Cheese I’ve had in my life. Never actually tried making it before, apparently nailed it first try.
wrote out the recipe for yesterday's mac and cheese. Not much to it, but could be fun to do (:
@yosh The secret to mac & cheese is that there is no secret to mac & cheese. You literally only need the two ingredients but you can add pretty much whatever else strikes your fancy because what doesn't taste good with cheese sauce on it?
@yosh looks quite different from the one I'm used to cook, I need to try it!
@yosh 100% agree.
@yosh It‘s also a really good way to ruin your restaurant experience!
@yosh being pretty free with the butter and salt also helps!
@yosh You also get the benefit of bias! You will automatically like anything you created yourself more.
